On the Emptiness of Seeking Validation

by Vanessa Hazzard

clinging to morsels

of validation

hoping it will

fill the emptiness

but it’s a starless winter midnight inside me

A good night’s rest, a good morning vomit

and dust in an empty wallet

live at the bottom of this bottle

you tried to cry for me

but you promised your tears to someone else

So I’ll do unto myself as you have done unto me

and disassociate

unbinding psyche and soma
