Ball and Chain: The Yoga Blues

sitting down in my easy pose

breathing in light through my nose

and on the exhale I felt a shift

tried to levitate but could not lift

it was that old ball and chain

wrapped around my tired brain

making noise driving me insane

it was that old ball and chain

chanting stopped it for a minute

faster repetitions got up in it

ego got testy and made a mean face

my heart all aglow put it back in its place

it was that old ball and chain

bringing up old stress and pain

telling lies fanning the flame

it was that old ball and chain

resting in the corpse pose

all relaxed wiggling my toes

slayed that demon once and for all

Bubi warrior answered the call

no more of that ball and chain

trying to drive me insane

sunlight shining in my heart again

no more of that ball and chain
